Text Box: Light of the world!  And as people of faith, we are to… “Do all things without grumbling or disputing; so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights (Italics, mine) in the world.” (Philippians 2:14-15)

It happened one cold winter’s night in February.  Two clowns popped in to a Portland, Oregon, soup kitchen which feeds the poor and the homeless.  (A ministry sponsored by the churches of 
Portland)

Brothers and sisters, welcome to a brand new year!  I love the 100th Psalm.  Those 1st two verses, with words and phrases like ‘joyful noise,’ ’gladness,’ and ’singing,’ seem to bring a smile to my face every time!  And that’s how you and I ought to greet the new year…with a SMILE!  Did you know that a smile…

*increases your face 
  value
*is a little curve that 
  can straighten out a lot of things
*is the shortest 
  distance between two    
   people

With that in mind, I’ve got a new year’s Text Box: exhortation for you: “It’s time to shine in 2009!”
With all the turmoil in our world today - economic woes, job layoffs, war and terrorism, etc. - God’s
